Staff will embed social/emotional learning opportunities and student ownership of learning across grade levels/content areas.

Why is this important?
Creating student ownership of learning builds the skills and mindset needed to become life-long learners. Students need opportunities to practice goal setting, prioritization, and time management to be able to overcome obstacles and grow through challenges.

Action steps related to the priority

  • Step 1 – Teachers will collaborate in Impact Teams to monitor and expand student ownership of learning using a variety of age-appropriate techniques.

  • Step 2 – Teachers will provide support to students as they practice skills with support.

  • Step 3 – Monitor growth of student growth, self-awareness, and SEL in monthly PLC.

Evidence of Implementation
Reduction in late/missing assignments. Reduction in office referrals for social or emotional challenges

Evidence of Impact
Students owning their learning by words and action (e.g. setting goals, meeting deadlines, etc.) Students will be able to exhibit resiliency and growth mindset when encountering difficulties.
