Priority 1
Curriculum Alignment
Curriculum district-wide will be aligned vertically and mapped for all content areas and grade levels.
Strategic Priority One
Why is this important?
Having curriculum maps for all grade levels and content areas insures that staff derive lessons from a year-long plan of instruction that is standards-based. The curriculum maps vertically align instruction from Kindergarten to 12th grade. The maps also create cohesion in instruction when staff turnover occurs.
Action steps related to the priority
Step 1 – dedicate time to creating curriculum maps over the summer of 2023, prioritizing core subject areas (math, ELA, science, and social studies).
Step 2 – tie lesson planning to curriculum maps and implement their usage district-wide.
Evidence of Implementation
Completed curriculum maps for the core subject areas for grades K-12. Basic curriculum maps should be in development for elective classes and humanities classes.
Evidence of Impact
Less gaps in student learning as measured by EOY NWEA benchmark assessments. Clear usage of curriculum maps in lesson development as displayed in teacher lesson plans.
